Trump's 'Expanding' List for Secretary of State -- Stavridis, Huntsman, Tillerson, Bolton, Manchin

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee -- all of whom have met with Trump personally about the job in recent weeks and emerged as finalists -- remain possible picks for State, transition sources say.

This comes as no surprise. The other four candidates have their various flaws. I'm not saying that any of these four wouldn't do a fine job as Secretary of State. But Trump wants the best, and it couldn't hurt to see if there is someone out there better.

Trump's first choice obviously was Romney, and I believe that he is the best pick out of these four. The campaign vitriol, both Trump and Romney were more than willing to put behind them.

However there is political pressure from some of Trump's friends for him not to choose Romney. So Trump has respected that, and laid off picking Romney for now.

Don't be surprised if Trump isn't enthralled with any of the other "expanding list" candidates, that he winds up coming back to Romney. But if someone out there is better than Romney, that would be great.

Trump is doing everything right with the cabinet selection process. I expect that to continue as well as many other good things to come from the Trump administration.
