It's fantastic to see Penn State ranked 8th, considering all the fallout because of the Sandusky scandal. Frankly, I wasn't sure if we were ever going to see the top 10 for a long time.

Looking forward to a nice bowl bid, and continuing to enjoy this successful season which bodes well for the future of Penn State football moving forward.

One day, hopefully sooner rather than later, I would like to see Joe Paterno completely exonerated of this scandal, and place the blame squarely on the child molesting, convicted criminal Jerry Sandusky where it belongs. Yes, some mistakes were made by a few Penn State administrators and the local police who should have investigated Sandusky much sooner. But Joe Paterno was a football coach, not a school administrator or police investigator. Paterno reported Sandusky to the proper authorities, and the breakdown occurred there, not with Joe Paterno.

The NCAA harshly punished Penn State and Joe Paterno which was unwarranted considering the circumstances. Punishing those school administrators and the local police for negligence and incompetence would have been appropriate. Punishing the entire college and Joe Paterno was inappropriate.

They say that during a season, things tend to even out. Unfortunately for Penn State, the nice come from behind win against Ohio State may have been evened out with the awful 4th quarter loss in the Rose Bowl.

Penn State in the 4th quarter, had a comfortable 14 point lead with the football. Unfortunately with that possession, it was clear to see disaster coming from the timid play calling. Coach Franklin decided to play the game not to lose, instead of to win. What happens when a team does that, is they usually lose, and that is exactly what happened here.

Coach Franklin will learn from this bad mistake. I just wish it hadn't been in the Rose Bowl. Which turned a wonderful season into a very good season.

All that being said, I am proud of Penn State and the football program for coming back from ridiculously harsh punishment by the NCAA, and I look forward to many successful Penn State football seasons to come.
